If the only choice was between blk/chart and pump/chart I'd have to pick the Pumpkinseed.

Normally I stay away from solid shades and bright tails in clear water. Although they show up great when the water is darker,,, more subtle colors work best for me in clrear water where fish see everything. In clear water I like more translucent shades; watermellon, rootbeer, and shades the blend in rather than stand out with their suroundings.

In clear water you want to look for clear colors such as green pumpkin and watermelon seed. I prefer to texas rig with a bead. I also, always use flourocarbon line.

I've found it partially depends on the fishing pressure on the lake. Some of the larger, less pressured lakes, it don't matter what you throw (i've found pumpkinseed tends to work better than most others ). Other places, almost nothing works. Hate to say it, but buy a few different ones and try it. Even in a small area with 2 lakes say 50 miles apart can fish entirely differently....Do the legwork. Fish preferences can be harder to decipher than a secret code, it takes time and practice on your lake to figure out what works there........... or grab some binocs and see what the guy catchin' fish is using.

One of the best ways to fish with a lizard is to Texas rig it. To Texas rig a lizard, use a 1/0 or 2/0 hook with a small bullet sinker on 4" lizards, and 2/0 or 3/0 hook for a 5" lizard. This setup works great year round, as it can be fished at any speed in and around any cover. Pre-spawn, you can crawl it very slowly, doing a simple lift and drop when the fish are sluggish. During spawn, it works fantastic while be dragged through beds, driving bass crazy. Post spawn, fishing a larger lizard around cover is very effective, especially when the bass start sitting deep in patches of grass. Texas rigging a lizard is one of the best fishing methods to use, as it's very easy to learn, and can be used at any point of the year.

i perfer to carolina rig lizards.i fish it slow.this allows the bait to slowly float down to the bottom.i use a leader no shorter than 12" .8 or 10 lb. test floro carbon as my leader line.1/2 to 1 oz. egg sinker wieght, depending on the depth of water.

I look for a cove or an inset in the bank with visible bushes or branches. Flip the lizzard into the branches on the outside of the cover and then tighten up my line and wiggle the rod lightly until the bait starts to move tward the branch tip. when it falls off the branch tip follow the bait down with the rod tip and hang on. this presentation resembles a lizzard walking on the branch and falling off into the water. I won $500.00 in a federation tourninent using this tactic.

By far the most popular way is carolina rigged followed by texas rigged. These two presentations are pretty standard and can be done around the country. A different way to rig them is on a split shot setup. This is a long forgotten rig, but can whack them when the time is right. Basically, use a spinning reel with a split shot about two or three feet above the hook. It's a poor man's carolina rig, but is more of a finesse type of presentation. Baby brush hog's are well suited for this.

3/8 oz worm sinker 2/o hook rigged Texas style. Cast and use a slow retreive. During spawn the Bass will kill it going over their nest.
