The monarch its the next level up, but for the price your paying you might want to consider a Leupold since the eye relief and features are better.

Question
Does anyone know the best way to mount a scope over an engraved receiver to prevent rust?
I have an 8-10 year-old Remington 700 BDL with factory-applied engraving/scrollwork on the top of the receiver, between the holes tapped for mounting the scope rings. When mounted, the ring bases will still allow air, moisture, etc., to get underneath the bases, and affect the scrollwork (actually, moisture usually gets trapped there, where close tolerances don't allow it dry, and the rust starts almost immediately). Every other rifle I've seen like this has rusted, and usually continues to rust as long as the scope is mounted. Does anyone know a good method to overcome this situation? Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you ever thought about putting a little oil over the engraving to keep the rust from starting there? Just keep a light coat on it.

The BDC is not exactly a mildot system. You kinda have to plot ranges and take note with the ammo you are using .....then remember where in the bdc you were sighting while shooting at a particular range. Example. For my .223 with 75 grain smk the zero at 100. my hold over for 200 is just between the first bdc and the cross hair. 300 yards is the center of the first bdc ring. 400 yards the second ring, 500 yards is the bottom of the third ring, 600 yards is in the middle of the 4th ring.. You have to learn the rings. Milling is way different and very specific to ammo. You need to use the same ammo ever time and know how drops.
