My buddy has Mathews DR2 and the Hammer is actually quieter than his bow.

I havnt shot any other bow but the Hammer, however the loudest part of the bow is the whisker biskit. I got ride of it asap.

Yes you can buy just the bow only. I went to a local proshop and spent $299 for the 2010 model. Usually they are $399 for the bow only.

PSE Bow Madness is $500 for the bow alone. I got the package and don't recommend buying the package but the bow alone then adding your own accessories because the front sight doesn't work well in low light even with the light. Peep sight came out of string. Whisker biscuit hole is a little big for a carbon arrow. Had to replace the string dampener because it makes a loud slapping noise after you shoot.
