The guy before me was right but he also forgot to say that you can put 3 1/2 inch shells as well as 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells.

Yes. That's the standard length 12 gauge shell. This model chambers both 2 3/4 or 3" shells. Bass Pro also carries a great variety of hunting and home defense loads in both lengths.

If it is your first waterfowl gun, go with this (the Remington). I cannot say enough about the 870. I like the Mossberg as well, but you cannot go wrong with a Remington and it will be a great starting point to learn about shotguns.

Is a Chevy or Ford better? Same question. Some people swear by Remington, I happen to be a Mossberg fan. Each is going to last basically forever.

My favorite thing about Mossy's are the controls with the slide release behind the trigger guard instead of reaching in front and the safety being ambidextrous on top instead of a cross bar safety on the Remington.

You just have to handle them both and see which one talks to you.

you can change the choke out but a slug barrel gives you more accuracy and effective range.
