answer 2
It works great detecting carat gold, 10k, 14k, etc! So rings and any gold jewelry. It will not locate placer gold nuggets, at least not small ones under a few grams.

Its finds "Gold" as it finds any metal, no special setting. If you are asking about gold nuggets, I have no idea. If you are asking about gold coins, I guess it would signal just like any other coin. I have not found any "Gold", I have found one small plated chain, a plated ring and a bronze WWII metal.

Question

what is the radius of this machines working area?

If i know the approximate location of something, would this work well? I usually know within a 20ft radius of where something i lost is. (ex. when i shoot and loose an arrow) how good would this detector be under those circumstances?

thanks

I use my main metal detector to locate my aluminum arrows, I bury under grass. The range is too limited for this pinpointer. How tendious it would be to locate an arrow in a 20 foot square with a device, which is capable of finding objects a inch deep.

answer 2
Should be fine, If you put it in All Metals mode, it will find any metal. You will have to turn the Sens way down or it will signal on everything.

No it is not.

answer 2
No, absolutly not. I would not venture to even put the coil in the water. I would not risk my $600 investment. Also, if you want a water detector, their are plenty out there for about the same price.

Great idea! It would work, if copper plated shot and tungston , but not pure lead! I tried it out, no go on lead shot.

answer 2
No. The pin pointer’s capacity is 1” on coins. The pallet would be embedded deeper than that. Thanks

Question

Does it work all by itself?

The description says it works with a metal detector. Is it a metal detector or isn't it? I am considering this as a gift. Also, how far underground does it detect?

It is a stand alone product, but it will only detect an inch or less from the object. It is really a substitute to keep you from combing through what you dig up.

answer 2
It suppliment a standard metal detector, by simply narrowing the time digging and sifting out a small coin or object. Depth is limited to one inch deep for small objects and maybe two inches deep for large metal objects.
