answer 1
yes it is and works great
answer 2
It absolutely is! However if you are only using it for ocean fishing and launching in a rough surf I would recommend the new X-Factor. The new X-Factor has the two large hatches up front, one of which is enclosed so you can make it a livewell if you would like. It also has less hatches on the surface so less opportunity for water intrusion. I have taken my new Stealth 14 out through the surf several times though and the only water I took on was a few teaspoons from when I didn't close the foot hatches all the way and took on a rogue wave.

Absolutely. I've paddled mine miles out into Lake Ontario and in the Finger Lakes. I also have many friends who take it out into the Gulf of Mexico, and in Florida out into the Atlantic Ocean. It is incredibly stable and has a true 550lb weight capacity. I've loaded it down with myself and a ton of gear. It also paddles great in current. I once was able to paddle upstream through a current that a friend of mine was not able to paddle in his Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler - despite the fact that he weighs much less than myself and was in much better physical condition at the time.

Most definitely!! You can take it BTB (beyond the breakers) but you need to practice your launch and do it safely. Malibu kayaks were designed for both freshwater and saltwater uses!! Of course with any kayak taken off the beach into the surf, safety is the key...always wear your PFD and have all items secured with a leash to prevent from going over if a wave breaks on top of you.

answer 5
Yes, you can use this in the ocean. Just remember after every use, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse with water. After paddling in saltwater, brackish or polluted water, pay special attention to rinsing the foot pegs and all hardware with plenty of fresh water. This is a great kayak for fishing, recreational exploring, day play, fitness, and diving/snorkeling. Thanks
