It depends on the range to the deer. Inside 100 yards, I think you are fine. Beyond that it depends on the gun you are shooting and your skill. The primary thing with hunting is shot placement. Even the best round in the best gun will not drop an animal with bad shot placement. With good shot placement, you should be able to drop a deer at 100 yards or beyond depending on your skill and shot angle.
