yes there are four holes to drill because the the part of the bracket that bolts to the boat is about a third of the size

When there is carpet, or a rise from the bow to the gunwale. Carpet does not allow you to push the piece, mounted to the motor, down far enough to lock it in place.

The motor bracket MKA 21 is 12 7/8" X 7" and attaches to the bottom of your motor. There is a puck that attaches to your boat deck and fits into a cut-out in the mounting bracket that you mount on the bottom of the trolling motor Hope this hasen't been confusing . Good luck
