you can put heaver line but 50 or better the fish can see deff in clear water situations. the bigger the line the less u can put on ( for mono) if u get braid u can put a lot on cuz its smaller. U can put a bigger # of braid but it might surpass the rods capability, plus some braid will cut the level winds and the guides..i use a 113H/6'6" slammer 30-50lbs rod and i use 50# suffix with 50# seaguar leader good set up for this rod..hope this helps
