It will shoot them but they are really for inlines. I`ve owned many of these and with round ball 70 grains of powder and Maxi Hunter 90 grains of powder worked well. The Maxi Hunter flew the best for me and has great knock down.

Pellets are not for this rifle. RS works great.

answer 2
Yes you can use pyrodex in this firearm, I have a friend who has one and he prefers to use black powder instead. He says it is easier to clean when he uses black powder.

This rifle is top-breaking, and can be shot either right-handed or left-handed. Four shooters in my family: two right-handed, two left-handed, and we all use our Impact. Easy and accurate even for kids and wife to shoot.

can you attach a bayonet for display purposes?

Hello,

This is more of a frontier rifle and I do not think that this ever had a bayonet designed for it.

You might like to look at a Springfield 1861 or Enfield rifle of the same period. Those were designed to take a bayonet because they were specifically combat guns.

I hope that helps. I may be wrong however.

Question

How are the sights secured onto the barrel?

I have already asked this question to Traditions who said that both the front and rear sight are secured by standard 3/8" dovetails. Their schematic also show that the sights are held in dovetails, but one review said that the sights were not removable. I'd really like to be completely sure, because if I bought this rifle I would like to install different sights.
