Ethernet cables connect network devices such as GPS and other units together (see photo). They transmit data using the Ethernet protocol.

Question

2 Ethernet cables needed?

Have HDS-12 Gen 3 (at helm) with 3D structure scan. Also have HDS-9 Gen 3 (at bow with spotlightscan on troll motor) I am ordering NMEA 2000 starter kit. From schematic above it seems like I need 2 Ethernet cables true? Also is there anything else (cables etc) I will need for this application?
Thank you

We are unable to see the schematic that you mention, however from the 3D box, you will need to run 1 ethernet cable to each unit. The the NMEA 2000 kit, you will have 1 t-connector for each device, plus 1 for a power node, the ends of the network will be capped with terminator kits.

This cable will work with the LCX27-C model. I do not find any info stating it can be used with the LCX18-C.
If that model has a port on the back of the unit for the yellow 5-pin ethernet cable, this cable will work with it.

The Elite-7 HDI does not have Ethernet functions, so it is not able to share chart or sonar information. These are functions exclusive to our HDS series.
