do you clip lures directly to the weight or is a leader reccomended?

I make a leader out of monofilament or florocarbon about 4-5 feet long. I run a braid mainline (30lb test) and the leader is 12lb. The ball bearing swivel really works great to eliminate line twists when pulling a spoon.

I would NOT use these as an added weight for light casting lures. They will lead on the acst andcause atagled mess with the lighter lure.
